Effective date: set on launch day

The short version: Duetile keeps your coursework on your own Mac. We do not run servers that receive it, so we cannot see it, sell it or lose it.

What the app reads

Duetile reads your Canvas courses while you are signed in. That covers:

• your classes, assignments, quizzes and their due dates
• whether work is turned in, late or missing
• your grades and how each class weights them
• announcements, inbox messages and notifications
• modules, course pages and syllabus files

If you paste a Canvas calendar link into the app, it reads that too.

Signing in

You sign in on your school's own page, shown in a window inside Duetile. Duetile does not read or store what you type there. Once you are in, it keeps the signed-in session on your Mac, as a browser would, so you are not asked every time. Signing out in Settings deletes it.

If you use the optional Duetile Reader add-on for Chrome instead, it uses the Canvas session already open in Chrome.

Where it goes

What Duetile reads is saved in a folder on your Mac (~/Library/Application Support/Duetile). It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

The app talks to your school's Canvas and sign-in pages. When you search for your school during setup, the name you type goes to Canvas's public school finder, run by Instructure. The Chrome add-on, if you use it, talks only to your school's Canvas and to the Duetile app on your own Mac.

What we never do

• We never see or store your school password.
• We never change anything in Canvas. Duetile only reads.
• We do not use AI on your coursework.
• We do not show ads, and we do not sell or share data, because we do not have it.

This website

This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. It collects nothing about you unless you choose to give us your email address, as described below. The company that hosts it keeps ordinary visit logs, such as IP address and time, as every web host does.

When you buy

Payment is handled by our store partner, store name, who collects your name, email and payment details under their own privacy policy. We receive your email and order so we can send your licence key and help you if something goes wrong. We never see your card number.

Email updates

If you type your email address into the sign-up box on this site, we save that address and the date. We use it only to tell you when Duetile is ready and about updates to it. We do not sell or share it, and it is not linked to anything the app reads. To be taken off the list, use the unsubscribe link in any email or write to help@duetile.com.

When you email us

If you write to us, we keep the message so we can reply. We do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask.

Removing your data

Sign out in Settings, delete the folder named above, and remove the add-on from Chrome if you added it. Everything Duetile saved is then gone. To have us delete your order record or emails, write to help@duetile.com.

Your school's rules

Duetile reads only what your own Canvas login already shows you. You are responsible for following your school's rules about how you use its systems.

Children

Duetile is made for college students and is not meant for children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new date.
